Telesina is one of the new poker variants that have seen the light of day. The rules are as follows:
- Telesina is played with a “French” deck of cards with 32 cards from Ace to Seven.
- There can be up to six players in the same game.
- Cards are dealt clockwise, starting with the first active player after the dealer button.
- Telesina is played with ante. Before cards are dealt, ante must be paid by each player participating in the game.
Each player is dealt two cards, one face down and one face up. The cards that you receive first are your hidden card (“hole card”), which cannot be seen by the other players. Then three more cards are dealt face up to each of the remaining players. When the fifth card is dealt to the remaining players and the round is complete, a card is placed in the center of the table. It is the Vela community card that can be used by all players to make a better hand and is used in the final round.
The player who can show the highest card after the cards have been dealt must place a bet (bring-in), which is usually equal to 2 x the ante, or make a higher bet if possible in relation to the game’s limits . In order to determine the bring-in, cards are dealt just after the card order by suit, in the order hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades (descending order). After the first set, play continues clockwise until the round is finished.
Five rounds are played in Telesina. The first round is played after each player has been dealt their first two cards. Then the 3rd, 4th and 5th cards are given to each player in a game round after each new card. The final round is played when the Vela card has been revealed.
If no further bets are made after all the cards are dealt and the Vela card is shown, then the winner must be determined. It is the best five-card hand that wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand, then they must split the pot. If there are odd chips, the player closest to the dealer’s box wins. If a bet was made on the fifth card (river), then the player who made the last bet or raise must show his hand first. If no bet was made, then the first player left to the left of the dealer must show his hand first.
